“We visited India for 3 weeks during August 2018 with Great Escapes (The Great Indian Tours), who were recommended to us by a work colleague. We gave them a list of places that we wanted to visit, they put together a personalised itinerary for us, and also added in some extra delightful places based on their local knowledge. We traveled down the west side of Tamil Nadu from Chennai to Kanyakumari at the tip of India, and back up the east side of Kerala to Kochi, and then flew north to travel from Udaipur to Delhi via Jaipur, Jodhpur and Agra. Some of the very memorable highlights of our trip were Kanyakumari, which lies on the southernmost land tip of India, where the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean, and the Bay of Bengal meet. This was one of my favourite places in India. I will not forget the beautiful beaches and the spectacular sunrises and sunsets at the place where 3 oceans and seas meet, it was an amazing experience and the photos don’t do the scenery justice. Absolutely stunning!. Also, the unique and fascinating places near Mahabalipuram that had temples carved into the rock face and a large suspended rock called “Krishna’s Butterball” along with a good tale as to how it got there. Throughout the holiday we visited places that made traditional wares. At atraditional local weaving place, we learnt the art of weaving pashmina’s first hand. We also visited places demonstrating the arts of silk painting, carpet weaving, traditional Indian dancing and precious stone work; all of which were very enjoyable experiences as well as educational. The Ranakpur Jain Temple in the north of India near Jodhpur was one of the most peaceful places on Earth that it has been my pleasure to visit. This stunning temple is set in a nature reserve in the hills, within which we encountered some spectacular wildlife on the way there and back. Apparently, there are Tigers and Hyenas in the forests there too but they were rather shy on the day. The Taj Mahal exceeded all my expectations. It was absolutely superb. The daily local tour guides provided by Great Escapes throughout the tour were extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and made the sightseeing really fun as well as very informative. Great Escapes provided a personal chauffeur who was an excellent driver, and this enabled us to visit places easily, and go to stunningly beautiful sites in remote areas off the tourist track. Great Escapes customer Service was also fantastic. The Great Escapes team are professional, friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable, they went the extra mile to make our holiday really special, fun and a very memorable one. Overall, the whole tour was absolutely amazing, we had a fantastic holiday, staying in luxury hotels and the sightseeing experiences were out of this world. We were very well looked after throughout our holiday, and would highly recommend Great Escapes as a tour company to anyone looking to travel in India.”
